Is this thing on...?

R.I.P. message boards, plus a Tempe reality check...

The faithful handful of you that have been frequenting the former TempeTalk message boards since we ran all those Full Moonies out of town last year have probably noticed a slow decline in attendance on the boards. Truth be told, there just ain't much to talk about except DVD acquisitions, and the boards seemed to be the most active when there were new productions ongoing. So, between that and the popularity of my DEAD NEXT DOOR remastering weblog, I decided to play Van Helsing (no, not that piece of shit movie!) and ram a stake through the heart of the Message Board Formerly Known As TempeTalkā„¢ and introduce this semi-frequent weblog version.

So what can you hope to read here? Well, your guess is as good as mine...I guess we'll find out together. Could be semi-daily ramblings about any manner of things, an occasional rant or three, maybe even some helpful "do's and don'ts" from the front lines. By all means consider this an open invite to e-mail me with comments, thoughts, feelings and death threats...I might even post them here to entertain the masses (that's right, all ten of you, LOL).

Now before you get the impression that I've been sitting around with both thumbs up my rear, read on!

This week's big news is that our SOMETHING TO SCREAM ABOUT documentary has just been picked up by Showtime and should find its way to one of their channels in January, 2005...how's that for kicking off the New Year in style? So if you're one of those cheap bastards that hasn't ordered your copy yet, stay tuned to your TV Guide (or this blog) for showtimes. This news is particularly exciting for me seeing as it will be the first all-Tempe production to be blessed by The Cable Gods (unless you count last year's brief pay-per-view run of SKINNED ALIVE...but I don't since Charlie Band ran off with all the profits).

There's also some DVD news that's not exactly related to the daily operations here...we've licensed 18 titles to BCI Eclipse (aka Brentwood) for non-exclusive, multi-pack releases which should launch later this year. That's right, soon you'll be able to get your very own copy of SKINNED ALIVE along with 9 other movies you've never heard of for a mere $9.99 SRP! So why continue buying the Tempe-branded discs? Well, for one thing the Brentwood release do not feature any of the extras that we've toiled so hard to bring you on our discs...those are Tempe exclusives, the way it should be! Those folks will also be releasing the original, non-remastered editions of some titles, including SKINNED ALIVE, OZONE, BLOODLETTING and GHOUL SCHOOL. That's right...forget about those 5.1 surround mixes 'cause you ain't gonna get them on a 10-pack for $10, kids. But this is still exciting news as the Tempe virus will spread into some places that we haven't been able to infect yet...and that's always a good thing.

I think that's about it for this first edition...thanks for reading and come back again y'all...
